Paying at an online casino from Chile: from the CuentaRUT to the cashier
The money · online casino in Chile with a CuentaRUT
The casinos in our register do not take pesos: they take cryptocurrency. That does not put them out of reach of a CuentaRUT or a MACHBANK account. It only adds one step. Here is the whole route, out and back, with the mistakes that cost the most money.
Webpay, Khipu, a peso transfer: the methods a Chilean uses every day do not work at the cashier of the casinos in our register of trusted online casinos in Chile. They all take cryptocurrency. The bridge between your peso account and the casino cashier is an exchange or a person-to-person market. It looks complicated the first time; the second time it takes five minutes.
The route in one line
Pesos in your bank → an exchange or Binance P2P → USDT or USDC → the casino's deposit address → play → withdrawal to your wallet or exchange → pesos back in your bank.
Every arrow is a step where there can be a fee and a mistake. One at a time.
Step 1: from your account to an exchange
Buda.com. A Chilean exchange. You deposit pesos by transfer from an account in your own name (they ask for the receipt) and buy crypto on its market. It has Chilean-peso pairs for BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC and other coins.
Binance P2P. Here you buy not from the house but from other people selling USDT for pesos. Binance holds the USDT while you make the transfer to the seller; when the seller confirms the pesos arrived, the USDT moves to your account. The listings accept transfers from Banco Estado (where the CuentaRUT lives), MACHBANK, BCI, Santander, Banco de Chile, Tenpo and other banks. The CuentaRUT is not a separate method: you pick «Banco Estado».
The CuentaRUT's limits. It has daily transfer caps, and they are lower when the recipient is new. On Binance P2P every seller is a different recipient, so the limit makes itself felt. If you are going to move large amounts, an exchange where you always transfer to the same account is more practical.
One warning: Orionx, for years one of the better-known Chilean exchanges, announced a permanent closure on its front page with withdrawals suspended. Do not use it.
Step 2: what to buy
Buy a stablecoin: USDT (Tether) or USDC. They are worth the same as a dollar, so 100 USDT today is 100 USDT tomorrow. If you buy bitcoin to play with, your balance rises and falls with the market while you play, and it is hard to know what you are betting in pesos.
Bitcoin makes sense if you already hold it and want to play with it. To buy from scratch, the stablecoin is simpler.
Step 3: the right network
This is the mistake that costs the most money. USDT exists on several networks: Tron (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana, BNB Chain and others. A Tron address is not an Ethereum address, even though the coin is the same.
- In the casino cashier, pick the coin (USDT) and the network. The casino shows you an address for that network.
- At your exchange or on Binance, choose to withdraw USDT on that same network.
- Copy the address with the copy button, never by hand. Check the first and last characters.
- The first time, send a small amount. When it arrives, send the rest.
Which network to pick: the cheapest both sides offer. Ethereum is usually the dearest for small amounts; Tron and Solana are among the cheapest. At Vave, according to a help-centre table from September 2023, the minimum USDT deposit is 3 on Solana, 5 on TRC-20 and 19.99 on ERC-20: the gap says a great deal about what each network costs.
Step 4: the way back
The withdrawal runs the same road in reverse:
- In the casino cashier you request the withdrawal to an address of your own: your wallet, or your deposit address at the exchange. On the same network.
- At the exchange you sell USDT for pesos.
- You withdraw the pesos to a bank account in your own name.
On Binance P2P the peso withdrawal works the opposite way round to the purchase: you post or accept a sell listing, the buyer transfers pesos to you, and you release the USDT once you see them in your account. Never release before the money is in your bank, however convincing a receipt the buyer sends.
Which casino clauses can delay that withdrawal, and how to test it at little risk, is in withdrawals and the test withdrawal.
And if I do not want crypto
That is a reasonable decision. In that case the casinos in this register are not for you, and it is worth looking for one that takes pesos directly. The five tests in how to tell if a casino is trustworthy work just as well for checking it: licence in the register, domain, verification, withdrawal cap and Chile absent from the restricted list. What changes is the payment method, not what makes a casino trustworthy.
The mistakes that cost the most
- The wrong network. The dearest of all. Check the network twice.
- An address pasted from somewhere else. Some malware swaps what you copy. Check the start and the end of the address before you send.
- Releasing on P2P before you are paid. A receipt can be faked in a minute; your bank balance cannot.
- Leaving the balance at the casino. Withdraw what you win and what you are not going to play. A casino balance is not savings.
- Buying more than you will play. If you buy for a session, buy the session's worth. More on budgeting in safer play.
